25.08.2021 - Au revoir.

‘Should we take our bathing suits?’

‘Nah, we won’t have time to go swimming anyways.’

But we did. And it was amazing.

Today I saw horses shying away from the siren of an ambulance. I saw many dogs; some of them were playing in the river, and others were stuck in a fence. I saw turtles that were mounting each other and butterflies gathering on dog poo. There were dragonflies on the hunt, and lizards on the run. Fish nibbled on my feet and birds sang in the trees. I saw many fellow humans going about their days. People hiking up the hills, running through the woods, swimming in the river and some were climbing rocks.

There were different kinds of landscapes, covered in bamboo, cacti, fern, pine trees and a million different kind of weeds and flowers. There was the sound of the river and people laughing in the distance.

I felt the cold of the river water on my skin, and the heat of the sun soak up its remains. I felt the stones under my bare feet and the rocks under the (too thin) soles of my sneakers. I felt the wind in my hair (and in my ears, giving me a headache). I felt my feet getting heavy and my knees getting sore with every step I went further.

We walked the Gorges du Gardon.

It was breathtaking.

In every sense of the word.

Au revoir.
