19.08.2021 - Castles, thorns and bullshit.

Lately my dreams have been very unsettling which makes it difficult for me to have a good start into the day. So today started out very shitty. Then it got even worse. And then I went for a walk.

I already knew where I was going this time, so I walked with determination, into the direction of those castle ruins that I saw from the far a few days ago. I walked, convinced that at some point I would get to my planned destination without needing to look at a map. And I walked some more, until I was sure that I had missed that goal by at least a kilometer, having walked right past the abandoned castle ruins without even noticing.

So much for those orientation skills I’ve been bragging about.

Either way. I found the castle and it was soooo worth it. The place was even more deserted than I had imagined, and it was quite untouched and very pretty. Also the view wasn’t too bad since I found myself on one of the only hills in the area and could see quite far. I do think that there was one other person up there while I was there. Or it might have been a ghost. Who knows.

Anyways. On my way back home I got lost somewhere in the endless vineyards and since I was too lazy to turn around and go back the way I came, I just climbed over a fence. I was hoping to find an official walking path that way. I didn’t. Instead I was stranded in a field full of thorny weeds. After finding my way through that mine field without any major injuries, I was stranded in an abandoned field covered in cow crap. Only it wasn’t cow crap at all. And it wasn’t so abandoned either. Suddenly there was a horde of bulls staring right at me. (I’m not even sure if they were bulls, but they had big ass horns and were scary as fuck). At first I thought that they were separated from me by a fence which is why I didn’t mind taking a few pictures of them until I noticed that the fence was wide open after all. I honestly thought that was the end of me.

I’m not sure how I managed to get out alive but I did and I took the fastest way home after that, always staying on known territory.

Oh and I had upgraded my shoe situation for real this time. I Still got blisters on my heels though.

So that’s how another shitty day became an okay day. Yay.

I have been told that I am quite the optimist.

See ya.
